Life

Why is life so amazing? :)

I did more work today on CMU Adventures. I added a messaging system so you can send messages to other players, and will soon extend it to include a public message board system where you can alternately post messages that anyone can read. Any help debugging that would be appreciated. Also, magic has generally been rebalanced as to be less abusive… let’s see how that works out.

Last night was happiness, spending time with awesome people and having random conversations. I think the more time passes, the more I’m loving just spending time with and being around friends. This is a good thing.
Also, spending time with >friend is also always a good thing. ^_^

Also, I got my official job offer today in the mail, and accepted it. I start work on May 28th, so I’ll be back here in Pittsburgh a bit before then. I’ll be working as a developer with General Dynamics. Sounds kinda awesome… my first real developer position. Kinda scared though.

Also, I promised Rolf I wouldn’t post pictures until people lost interest, but there was a Kesden/Rolf newspaper fight in teh clustar yesterday and I have pictures, so you should ask me if you want to see them.

Wheee, yay for Super Smash Brothers with huge turnip things :D

Tonight is 8’s ITG party of awesome and win. Yay for life!

Arrr

This song Change (Jason Nevins Dance/Pop Radio Edit) might be the first song I’ve listened to where the remix is better than the original song. It’s truly an awesome remix for an already fairly awesome song. I love getting new music, even though I really can’t afford it right now :)

Life has been incredibly awesome and happy lately, despite this weekend consisting mostly of me being lazy and not getting work done and now, as a result, being incredibly behind in classwork and likely going to fail the graph theory exam tomorrow. I think Friday night was the most awesome time I’ve ever had in a long time. There was chocolate fondue (courtesy of Mars and Dan, I believe), awesome games, spending time with friends/people I care about, and some awesome conversation until 5:30 AM.
There was also a Tim getting eaten by his bed.

There was also scary ponytail-Dan-thing

There was an ITG sightreading tournament on Saturday that I went to and photographed for a bit. It had a rather impressive turnout.

So yeah, this weekend has been full of laziness and graph theory studying (and I’m still going to fail, ahhh!). Also worked a bit on my paper for photo history. I should have been coding networks. Bleh. At least we ended up doing well on p2. Yay for doing well on projects.

Life makes me so happy… friends make me so happy…
Why are people so awesome?

Meh

Despite today having its high points (unofficially official Pi day, Mark party, finding out we did fairly well on our networks lab, some nice new scores in ITG including my first sightread star, doing stuff with Ben), the weather seems to generally be matching my mood… which is to say, crappy.

Work continues on CMU Adventures. The puzzle to unlock Wean 4 is implemented (even if Wean 4 itself isn’t) which means that Doherty is fully implemented from B level to 2nd floor, and Wean 5 and 7 are both fully implemented. Whee.

Me wants a 10-20 lens…. oh god wide angle sexiness.

I should probably head to bed early, as I’m ready for today to be over.
Blah bad moods.

Random updates

For people who are interested in Student Wars, the second-to-last expansion (Internships) has been uploaded for your playing pleasure. I’ll work on Loose Ends eventually and wrap up the game.
In related news, work on the graphical cards for the STD Card game, work on the base sets for the Supernatural card game and RPG Get! card game system, and work on Student Wars v2 have all been delayed because I’m busy with school and other life stuffs.

I photographed Tom and Car yesterday as the first part of my next assignment for portrait.
Feedback on these would be helpful, as I don’t want to do horribly on another portrait assignment.
Bleh.
Most of these have been slightly cropped, but the framing still bothers me (if anything, the recropping to try and confirm to what the professor considers “good” is what bothers me, since I like the full frames on many of these)… not sure what to do about that.
Meh.
How is it possible to hate photo so much, given that I immensely enjoy photographing?

In the full version, part of her elbow is still out of the frame. I tried cropping it down, but it still looks weird. Bleh.

Cropped too close to her head, maybe?

I like this more than the full one, where she is more centered in the frame.

Not sure about the cropping of this.

I’m torn about this one, because I really like it, but I feel like my professor won’t.

I like this one.

Once again, arms being partially out of the frame, and unsure how to fix it…

God, what is it with me and partially cutting arms out of the frame? It’s not something I’d normally notice, except it was one of the (few) things specifically pointed out to me… but the thing is, it doesn’t bother me that they’re cut off, and so it’s not something I think about while photographing. If anything, it bothers me when you see the entire arm in the frame, because it looks weird.
Is it my fault that my artistic sense doesn’t conform to the general sense? Things that I find artistic never match what other people like. And if it wasn’t for the fact that it affects my QPA, I wouldn’t care.
I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate photo -_-
I just want to go out and take photos and not have to care about this stuff, because I enjoy it, and the stuff comes out good *enough*. Why am I spending time stressing about this? Grargh.
I swear, if I was less anal about losing half a semester of work, I’d drop this class and be so much better off for it.

Content is continually being added to CMU Adventures. I’m currently working on the Doherty 1/B content, and will start on Wean 4/NSH soon. If you haven’t yet, creating an account and playing would be much appreciated, as the game could use all the testing it can get.

At least there’s something I’m good enough at.
*sighs*
*stabs photo with a big stabby stick*

Busy, busy, busy

Let’s start off on a good note…
I played lots of ITG today.

This makes me very happy (my first ever double star).

Academic things are slightly less good…

Worked a ton on our Networks project today. It is now 3:30 AM and I’m still coding. I probably won’t get to sleep tonight. Meh. I keep feeling bad, like Mike is doing all the work and I’m just writing bad stuff that he has to go back and fix later. I dunno.
I did write various tree-construction functions though (with Dijkstra’s, which is a pain to implement in C, especially when your graph is implemented as a linked list of nodes with ints of destination ids), and I suppose they work, but coding past midnight is probably never good for writing sane code.
Note to self: start the next project sooner, dammit.
I also need to finish up graph theory homework (a rather difficult set) and develop the two rolls of film I shot today. All of this must be done tomorrow (networks is due Thursday, graph theory and film are due Monday).

On top of that, Casino Royale at McConomy was cancelled today. ‘Tis a shame… I was looking forward to it too. At least there was still a bunch of yummy free food at the UC.

Backtracking a bit, I shot flashlight portraits of Alisa and Valerie today in the studio. The digitals came out decently (could’ve been better), but I don’t know how the film came out yet (I have to develop it; see above). Alisa and Val are awesome subjects, and have good suggestions too.

Lots of other stuff has happened since the last post that I’ve wanted to post about, but I can’t seem to remember any of it right now except that my new (awesome) flip phone is here and it makes me happy. It replaces my old phone (alluded to in the previous entry), which was awesome but too small, which was inconvenient for loud rooms (since my mouth was 4 inches away from the bottom of the phone). Whee.
You should poke me for the number, if interested.

There was a Pittsburgh job fair logical yesterday. I went. Not many people seemed interested in me, as usual. Meh. I feel like I have so much potential as a potential intern…. I wish companies would give me a chance. This doesn’t bode well for my getting a job after graduation in under a year.

Back to coding…
