Huzzah

Doing birthday stuff with friends is awesome and reminds me that there are people who care about me.
This is good.

I turn 20 (years old) in an hour. Blah. One of those good-for-nothing ages (as was 19, actually; grrrrr).

Meh.

I should sleep. 8:30 portrait photography beckons.

Foodpost

The last few days have been full of yumminess. Tomorrow we’re going to the Phoenix Buffet for lunch, which is an awesome Chinese buffet that includes made-to-order wonton noodle or ramen or udon soup, a full BBQ meats bar, a sushi bar, a dim sum bar, and green tea ice cream. Yum.

Today at lunch was Cyclo, a Vietnamese restraunt. I had the beef noodle soup (of course), and it was the largest dish I’d ever ordered (but easy to finish). Yummy. Their spring rolls were also fairly tasty.

Yesterday for dinner we went to Abuelo’s. My parents ordered some shrimp, beef, and chicken fajitas, which were excellent. I had a bowl of the best tortilla soup ever (there was more chicken in there than soup, and it was good breast meat too!) followed by four amazing enchaladas: espinaca (spinach and cream, I think) topped with red sauce, shredded chicken topped with green chile sauce, shredded beef topped with chile colorado, and ground beef topped with red chile sauce. Mmmm.

The day before that was lunch at El Paso. Dad ordered the baby back ribs with coleslaw and corn, and I got the grilled BBQ salmon with steamed veggies and beans. We split everything and it was all excellent and yummy and yay. Also, I had a western bacon cheeseburger at Carl’s Jr. at midnight, and it was more yummy.

Sometime before that (the day or two before) we went to Hong Kong Gourmet Buffet for lunch, and I had way too much of their yummy mango cream cake. Also a lot of the usual Chinese fare and made-to-order sushi. Mmmm.

So yeah, yay for yummy food.
I’ve been feeling kinda homesick for the past week though… worse than usual too, because this time I’m actually missing a person in addition to the place. Meh. At least I head home this Friday and get to celebrate my birthday with friends this Sunday. Boo at early flights and having to get up at 4 AM, but whatever.

It’s sexy Kat! You might ask how this is any sexier than usual pictures of her, and my answer to you would be “I guess it’s not. *drool drool drool* :-9”
Scandalous.

I have a new camera battery in the mail, being sent to CMU to await my arrival. Awesome. Now I won’t have to recharge my battery after every use. I’ll be sure to let the new one run completely dry before charging it (since that’s what they recommend, despite it not having a “memory” like traditional rechargables) so it doesn’t get screwed up like this one.
Meh.

Yay life.
Life is awesome.
*dances*

Reflections/foo

So the past few nights have been adventure after adventure (including two run-ins with cops).

Three nights ago was hanging out with awesome people and then having the cops called by one of their overreacting parental figures. Boo at Arizona curfew laws. At least no one got in trouble. I wasn’t aware that “contributing to the delinquency of a minor” was a punishable offense. Meh.

Two night ago I spent time with Kat before she moves to Tucson (and doesn’t come back for who knows how long…). I’ve known her since before Fourth grade, and we’ve been through so much together (both bad and good, but mostly good). I’m really going to miss you, Kat. Best of luck with life.

Last night was a casual outing to Barnes and Noble until the guy I was with made an illegal left turn, panicked at the sight of a cop, and drove away at 50 MPH through a parking lot (in a minivan, no less) only to be caught and realize he didn’t have his licence. That could have been really, really, really bad… except the cop was really nice and just gave him a warning. We need more reasonable cops like that. Then I had a midnight western bacon cheeseburger.

I don’t normally do memes in this journal (those are usually posted in my LJ), but this one is sufficiently un-meme-like that I’ll make an exception

1. What did you do in 2006 that you’d never done before?
Flirted with people, became more outgoing, took photography classes, entered a relationship, shut out everyone, felt truly hopeless, felt truly happy, struggled with a class, wrote code for use in a commercial product, accepted myself for me.

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions?
I don’t make new year’s resolutions.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing more than the usual colds and such

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My camera (Nikon D50)

12. What was your biggest achievement of 2006?
Became really, truly comfortable with who I am and, for the first time, feeling wanted.

13. What was your biggest failure of 2006?
Not getting the internship I wanted for the summer.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Food was #1, card games was #2.

16. What songs will always remind you of 2006?
Breathe Me – Sia

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
I. happier or sadder? Happier. Definetly.
II. thinner or fatter? Same
III. richer or poorer? Richer

20. How will you be spending Christmas and New Years?
Spent them at home in front of the computer and sleeping. Yay break.

21. Did you fall in love in 2006?
Depends on the definition of “love,” but I’d say yes. At the very least, I developed very strong feelings of affection.

22. How many one-night stands?
Five hundred and thirty-eight thousand seven hundred and fourty-two. Point nine.

23. Best thing you ate?
Pie! Yum yum yum yum.
Actually, I’m not sure. The seared Ahi Tuna steak was pretty damn good, as was the raw scallop and whitefin tuna sashimi… Probably one of those.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Yes

26. What was the best book you read?
I… um… haven’t read any real books all year, only textbooks and comic books -_-

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Rent

30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Brokeback Mountain

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 19. Mars and Dan brought me smiley cookies with candles, and I played games with people.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Slacks, t-shirts… the usual

34. What kept you sane?
Ev, Ben, and Kellie… it’s actually funny, that… I’ve (subconciously at first, but now conciously) started eliminating people from the list of people I feel comfortable talking to about things. My buddy list has rebalanced from top-heavy to middle-heavy (since I organize it by how comfortable I am talking to that group of people). Not sure what that means.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Gay marriage and illegal immigration (although this administration pisses me off in general, so you could say everything).

37. Who did you miss?
You get three guesses and the first two don’t count :-P

It’s a Davy!

Whee

Finished the Internships expansion for Student Wars yesterday. The tenative card list for the final expansion, Loose Ends, is also posted. I hope to have those finished, and to have Student Wars v2 started, by the end of next semester. Whether that’ll happen or not is anyone’s guess.

Also, as a note to myself, I need to work on graphical cards for the STD TCG, and also to make more cards for the Cluster card game.

Last night was a good day in KoL. I managed to get to level 11 in 2 adventures (I just needed 2 clover adventures + stat script) and beat the sorceress with no problems (had over 150 HP left; her first form only dealt 15 damage the entire time). Then I power levelled to level 15 in about 110 adventures while simultaneously building my NPZR (keep in mind a lot of those adventures were spent at the shore getting the toaster), then farmed for clockwork keys for my remaining 160 adventures. Then I ascended as an AT and got to level 4. So yeah, it would have been a sub-1000 turn run if I hadn’t wanted to level to 15 to perm pulverize. With just the levelling, its around a 1000 turn run. The only thing that made the turncount so high was my farming.

Yesterday Kat and I went to see Victor and Leon’s puppies. Oh god, they’re so cute!
Er… Oh god, there so cute! Their cuter than you’re puppies, and they have the affect of making you go “awwwww”. Your weak for puppies, you know you are.
That was painful >_<

In other news, my new memory card makes my camera say there are 1.2K available pictures… but the battery is on its way out (already :-\ although given how much I use it I guess it’s not a big deal) so I only get enough power for a couple hundred (on a full charge, although it’s stopped charging correctly, so that doesn’t mean anything).
Wheee!

Life is amazing and awesome and makes me happy.

New Year’s Meme

First off, because I’m a moron and forgot to thank people…
Thank you to everyone for the Christmas gifts!
Thanks to Apphia for the packs of UFS cards. Maybe we’ll actually make a play session next semester :-P
Thanks to Mars and Dan for the candy. Yum yum. I still have a bunch left for when I get back.
Thanks to Judith for the mug and cocoa. You didn’t have to get me something… after all, you overpay me for the work I do for you. But thank you very much.
Thanks to Ev for Battlestar Galactica season 1. We’ll have to watch it together or something when I get back.
Thanks to Vicki for the Geek book. It’s amazing. Yay equations for calculating if you should date or not!
Thanks to David for the box of Bunny Suicides. It’s also amazing. Yay cute bunnies killing themselves in weird ways!

Also, thanks to a certain someone for all the good times and experiences over the past 2 and a half months. I’d say it’s been like a roller coaster, except it hasn’t. It’s been more like an elevator to the top floor, where you get off and are exhilarated by the sights and experience. Thank you for everything. Most of all, thank you for making me feel the way you do… you make me unbelievably happy, and I hope that I do the same. <3

Wow, that was horrifically, unbelievably corny.
*ack*
*dies*

Meme going around, yeah yeah…
First sentence of each month (along with commentary):

Jan: I fail at social stuff. *sigh* It feels like I never get to see friends here and, despite, everything, I’m growing apart from them.
Still feel that way, somewhat. Bleh.

Feb: No really, this post is all about me.
Moreso than other entries, even…

Mar: The prints for my documentary assignment came out pretty well. Hopefully I did a better job on this assignment than the abstract photography one, so whee.
Well, I got A’s on both, so I guess I did do well.

Apr: Well, I’m posting this from New York… finally decided to spend the stupid $15 to get internet my last night here because I needed to confirm my flight tomorrow and such.
New York was so awesome… I wish I could go back sometime.

May: I havn’t updated in forever. This still isn’t a real update. Wheee.
Wheee!

Jun: My desk area r teh photo-y! :-D
This image was actually the first thing in the entry, but it wasn’t a sentence, so meh.

Jul: Played something like 5 rounds of DDR/ITG today. The guy I played with (Dan) was trying to add new songs to the ITG machine. It didn’t really work, unfortunately (can you imagine playing neoMAX on the machine? droooolllll), but whatever.
Well, now neoMAX is on the machine, so we can play it, and it is all kinds of awesome. Whee!

Aug: Home has been full of busy and lazy.

Sep: Yeah, so… classes have been inte You know, it’s 1 AM… this homework can wait until tomorrow, as can writing a real journal entry.
Zzzzzz

Oct: I should just walk away. Walk away and never look back. But I can’t, and I won’t. Oh well.
And then, 11 days later, we entered a relationship. Amazing how things worked out :)

Nov: I. Hate. Graphics.
I. Still. Hate. Graphics.

Dec: It seems I’m writing in here more and more sporatically. This is probably a good thing.
Eh, I guess it’s a good thing.
