Schedulewank take 2

Well, I have a 4 PM registration time, so that’ll kinda suck. Umm… Yeah
My ideal schedule: here
My (second) ideal schedule: here
Odds are at least some of those classes will fill before my registration time.

I’m guaranteed to get 62381… I’m fairly sure I won’t have trouble getting 15462 or 21355, if I want it. I’m worried about the others though, 15451 especially. Unfortunate that 15441 clashes with 62381, or I would use that as an alternative. Meh.
Time to hit the course catalog again and create alternate schedules.

Edit: I want to die… I’ve just spent the past ~5 hours in the darkroom making fiber prints for my project due tomorrow. You have to understand, besides taking twice as long in the developing process, fiber prints require an additional ~40 minutes afterward to clean and then archival wash… and then they must be heat flattened the following day (after drying for 24 hours). Gaaah.
Also, I am completely out of it today. Nikki was going to use my enlarger kit after I was done with it (since these prints are due tomorrow and she needs to do hers)… I gave her the key to the locker. The lock was on the locker. I fail. Stuck my stuff in with Dom and told her to find him. Luckily, I was able to find Emily and moved stuff back into the right places. Wheee.
Also, I completely missed a race condition on today’s 213 exam… that’s like 5 points off. Bleh.
Still to do this week: 21301 homework, 80180 homework, 213 malloc lab, and work on the outreach website. Meh.

Schedulewank

The schedule for Fall ’06 was released yesterday, so I’ve been playing around with a few things.

Things I definetly will take next semester (assuming I can get them):
15451: Algorithm Design and Analysis
15462: Computer Graphics
21355: Principles of Real Analysis I
21369: Numerical Methods
62371: Photography, The First 100 Years

Then one of:
15421: Web Commerce, Security, and Privacy (here)
62381: Color Photography and Digital Output (here)
62371: Alternative Photo Processes (here)

I like the schedule with color photography best, and that also seems like it’d be less work than any of the others (alternative photo seems like a lot of work). That schedule would also put me 1 class away from my photo minor, as well as 1 class away from a math minor (which I should go declare soon). That would leave databases, web applications, and computer networks for the following semester.

Meh. Thoughts?

Edit: Yeah, I’m not doing networks next semester. Classes for me to keep in mind for the following semester…
15413: Introduction to Software Engineering – Given that this is what I’ll be doing after college, probably a good idea
15441: Computer Networks – Needed for the systems requirement
15415: Database Applications – Good if I want to go into web application development
15397: Web Applications – Same as above
21484: Graph Theory – Interesting… would be for my math minor
21441: Number Theory – Same as above
Or maybe I can do 15413 next semester instead of analysis (here). Hmm… I should ask Mark about that.

Internship

Well, I guess someone does like me after all :D
I got the PSLC internship/research thing I applied for. I’ll be working here (in Pittsburgh/around CMU) this summer on “Automated Understanding of Algebra Word Problems,” which sounds amazing. The best part is meals and housing (and plane tickets to/from Pittsburgh) are provided… and I get a rather modest stipend for my work… as in more than I made all last summer, and this is much more interesting work.

So yeah, between that and the website I’m working on for the outreach center, I’m pretty much set work-wise.

Oh yeah, I also (finally) got my 312 elaborator working. I was just misinterpreting the rules for type matching. I was reading the left triangle as “the term on the right evaluates/checks to the left,” when it’s exactly the opposite (the list of types on the right is what the function needs to return). Once Keith explained that to me, it all made sense was was quite easy to write. Whee.
Blah, I always get hung up on notation.

Wheeee! So happy!

Jobbage

Yeah, so I got a job for this semester redesigning/maintaining the website for the Center for School Outreach and stuff. Wheee. In retrospect, it probably wasn’t a great idea given my workload, but I enjoy webdesign, so it’s more of a relaxing thing than work for me. The fact that all the content already exists makes it even easier.

Um… yeah. I fail at getting work done… no more homework has been finished since my last journal entry two days ago. I fail at malloc and the 312 elaborator :(

Food OMG

Yeeeah, so someone remind me never to do this again.
Today I woke up and had a couple doughnuts before heading to class.
After class, I had a sandwich and some cake and some cookies, along with a soda and a couple cups of water.
After more classes, I went to Oriental Express with Alisa and had a huge plate of beef curry with rice, and another cup of water.
After doing HW with Alisa for a while, I came to Wean and had 5 slices of an extra-extra large pizza.
Then I went to halfprice and had a chicken breast sandwich, fries, and 3 glasses of water.

My stomach is very, very, very unhappy right now. I don’t know if I can walk back to my dorm without barfing. Meh.

Blah more malloc, more typechecker, more unhappiness.

In about an hour it will be 01:02:03 on 04/05/06. Wheee! I should get a screenshot of my clock when it happens.
