Stuff

I’m getting better at making prints. I made 17 prints in just over 2.5 hours (if you don’t count the 30 minutes they take to wash, I took 2 hours). They turned out pretty good too… I cheated a little and didn’t make test strips at all… just exposed all my prints for 5 seconds and then developed them until they looked good.

In other photo news, I got both photo classes that I wanted. That means my schedule next semester will be this. Lots of fun happy photoness, lots of fun happy mathness, and lots of fun happy csness. Yayyy. Tim and Keith will both be in numerical methods with me too, which is good.

Last night was the KGB Useless Stuff Auction. I spent $1.50 and got a stuffed chick (cute!!!), four zombie arms from this year’s booth (weird!!!), four or so books (readingfuls!!!), a Sun Spark Station IPX (for $0.25… historyfuls!!!), a bunch of mismatched gloves (interesting!!!), a relatively nice green sweatshirt (warm!!!), an old shoe (strange!!!), Al-Tim’s little red squishy ball (cushy!!!), and some sketches that John made (collectable!!!). Wheee. Keith got a Vax. Yay for Vaxen! I think the best part though was the pile of clothes… I bought the pile for $0.25, and then Em paid me $0.25 for one of the shirts from the pile, so I got the sweatshirt and gloves for free.

Meh, I’m so behind on galleries for photos. I’ll try and get some up tomorrow.

Today was Waterfrontness. Got Chick-Fil-A. Yum yum yum. They have really good lemon meringue pie too.

I hate allergies. I’ve gone through a box of Kleenex in the past 2 days. The Clartin I bought doesn’t help either.

Must do 213 lab and 312 assignment tomorrow. Is it bad that I’m looking forward to finals, because that’ll mean there won’t be any more assignments?

Foo

Yeah, so I’m really, really glad one 21301 exam gets dropped. I totally failed today’s. Yay.

Also had psychology session today. It was certainly interesting. Psychologists are weird. I have another appointment next Friday though.

KGB had their Baked Goods Barter today. I traded a bunch of useless stuff for cookies and brownies. I should go to the Useless Stuff Auction tonight and buy it back… that would be completely terrible.

Homework time, whee.

Whee

So apparently I have reached the epidemy of something.
Today I slept through 213… while asleep, I had a dream that I was working on KGB’s booth, and Professor Pfenning was there lecturing to me. I worked, he lectured. When I woke up at the end of lecture, I asked people about some of the stuff that he had told me in my dream (stuff about concurrency and how hardware drivers have to deal with threading, etc), and it turns out all the stuff was what he was actually lecturing about in class. So yeah, not only did I get some sleep, but I also got the entire lecture as if I had been awake for it. Pretty neat.

Today was also the 18100 exam. I made two stupid mistakes-forgot to do a voltage divider for the capacitor problem, and somehow worked a transistor wrong to get 1.1V instead of 0.4V. Besides that, I feel confident in my answers, so yay. Tomorrow is the 21301 exam. I need to study.

Today was also the CS picnic. Great, more pictures for me to get posted.
For my own reference:
-Photo field trip #2
-Booth construction
-Carnival
-Mobot
-Egg Dying
-CS Picnic
I think that’s all the galleries I’ve procrastinated (read: had no time to do) on… I also need to assemble the free photobook from Shutterfly since the offer expires May 1. Gaah. This weekend is going to be hell.
In any case, I had wayyy too much to eat, and now feel like I’m going to explode. Whee.

Threading ahh

Yeah, so I finished 312 finally. We implemented threading in ML (and used it to implement speculative memory). It is horrific, but it works.
The last error I had was a stupid one too, and it’s one that I really should have caught.

We have a function scheduler that goes through a list of threads and runs them, one at a time.
Its type should be 'data * 'data state -> 'b since the function never returns, it just calls the next thread when one is done executing.
The type of mine was 'data * 'data state -> 'data * 'data state
This should have been a tipoff for me that something was wrong with the function.
It wasn’t.
I spent like two days trying to figure out why things were encountering empty thread lists and trying to release locks twice.

As Dan said, “You are 8 characters away from being correct.” I had forgotten to do a recursive call to scheduler inside scheduler, which meant I was returning the result of computations instead of running the next computation, as desired.
GAAH.

Oh well, it works now, so I’m happy.

Um, not much else. I really should be studying for 21301 and 18100. Meh. And I have 18100 lab tonight, which sucks. Meh.

Schedule!

This is my schedule as currently registered. Whee.
15441 is just a placeholder until I get confirmation into at least one of the two photo courses I want. If I get both, I’ll also drop 98073.

This is my ideal schedule. I’ll find out if I get the two photo classes later.
Blah to photo history (62371) being waitlisted since yesterday at noon. I’m on the waitlist… if I do get it, I don’t know what I’ll do (especially if I get both photo classes).

Wheee.
Lots of work to do tonight.
