Snow and classes (what more do you need?)
It snowed today. Actual, thick, sticking, fluffy snow.
Awesome.
Second day of classes went well. I suppose I should summarize on everything…
Yesterday was Portrait Photography and Graph Theory. Portrait looks like it’ll be full of awesomeness. I’m going to shoot Ben sometime this week (probably Thursday) for the first assignment. I also need to order some 2 1/4″ film and photo paper for the class. Graph Theory looks like it’s going to be workdeath and mathdeath, but soooo worth it. Mackey is the most amazingly awesome professor ever.
Today I had Networks and Web Apps. They start at 1:30 and are in the same room, one after the other. This makes my Tuesdays and Thursdays awesome. Networks is going to be hard, duh, but I’m sure I can do it. Web Apps is looking like the easiest CS course I’ve ever taken. I’ve done most of the topics for the first 3 weeks, and we only have half a semester of formal lectures since the second half is dedicated to the individual project. This project is also open ended, which means I can write that online RPG I’ve been wanting to and call it homework. Amazing.
Next Monday evening is my final class, Photography and Photographers since WWII (photo history). It seems like it should be a good course, but the reading is very dry. Mar.
Huzzah
Doing birthday stuff with friends is awesome and reminds me that there are people who care about me.
This is good.
I turn 20 (years old) in an hour. Blah. One of those good-for-nothing ages (as was 19, actually; grrrrr).
Meh.
I should sleep. 8:30 portrait photography beckons.
Foodpost
The last few days have been full of yumminess. Tomorrow we’re going to the Phoenix Buffet for lunch, which is an awesome Chinese buffet that includes made-to-order wonton noodle or ramen or udon soup, a full BBQ meats bar, a sushi bar, a dim sum bar, and green tea ice cream. Yum.
Today at lunch was Cyclo, a Vietnamese restraunt. I had the beef noodle soup (of course), and it was the largest dish I’d ever ordered (but easy to finish). Yummy. Their spring rolls were also fairly tasty.
Yesterday for dinner we went to Abuelo’s. My parents ordered some shrimp, beef, and chicken fajitas, which were excellent. I had a bowl of the best tortilla soup ever (there was more chicken in there than soup, and it was good breast meat too!) followed by four amazing enchaladas: espinaca (spinach and cream, I think) topped with red sauce, shredded chicken topped with green chile sauce, shredded beef topped with chile colorado, and ground beef topped with red chile sauce. Mmmm.
The day before that was lunch at El Paso. Dad ordered the baby back ribs with coleslaw and corn, and I got the grilled BBQ salmon with steamed veggies and beans. We split everything and it was all excellent and yummy and yay. Also, I had a western bacon cheeseburger at Carl’s Jr. at midnight, and it was more yummy.
Sometime before that (the day or two before) we went to Hong Kong Gourmet Buffet for lunch, and I had way too much of their yummy mango cream cake. Also a lot of the usual Chinese fare and made-to-order sushi. Mmmm.
So yeah, yay for yummy food.
I’ve been feeling kinda homesick for the past week though… worse than usual too, because this time I’m actually missing a person in addition to the place. Meh. At least I head home this Friday and get to celebrate my birthday with friends this Sunday. Boo at early flights and having to get up at 4 AM, but whatever.

It’s sexy Kat! You might ask how this is any sexier than usual pictures of her, and my answer to you would be “I guess it’s not. *drool drool drool* :-9”
Scandalous.
I have a new camera battery in the mail, being sent to CMU to await my arrival. Awesome. Now I won’t have to recharge my battery after every use. I’ll be sure to let the new one run completely dry before charging it (since that’s what they recommend, despite it not having a “memory” like traditional rechargables) so it doesn’t get screwed up like this one.
Meh.
Yay life.
Life is awesome.
