Zoooo

Matt, Katrina, and I went to the zoo this weekend. The first animal we saw was an ostrich, which proceeded to turn its butt towards us and pee, and then poop. Other animals throughout the day also did so, including a rhino who sprayed pee all over the metal bars of its enclosure. It was very odd. We also saw them feed the penguins, which was awesome. Apparently the chick of the two gay penguins is named “Chuck Norris”…?

I have been playing PSO again. I miss having friends on there to play with, because public games are full of greedy and/or incompetent people. Blah. On the plus side, 3 level 80+ Fomars (I’m 150) versus vhard TTF = massive pwnage. There was gifoie everywhere. Vol Opt’s first form died in literally 15 seconds (one set of screens and a couple pillars was all that got destroyed). Yay for spellcasters.

Workwise, we moved buildings this weekend. I am not a fan of the new place. The kitchen is tiny (and there’s only one, versus the three in the old building), the bathroom is tiny (and there are huge gaps in the stall walls so you pretty much see someone sitting on the toilet when you walk into the bathroom), and there are only two conference rooms. Meh. Hopefully it will grow on me.

Card games, web games, and thou

I finished opening the 10 boxes of DBZ TCG yesterday (120 booster packs).
I ended up with at least 4 copies of each common, so that’s fine. I also ended up with at least 1 copy of every uncommon (2 copies of every uncommon except one, 3 copies of every uncommon except three). That’s also decent.
However, if you don’t include the foil cards, I ended up missing 2 rares (Black Dragon Support and Black Z Warriors Gather, but I received a foil Black Dragon Support in the first box). Given that I had 4 copies of some of the rares (5 if you include foils), this is rather disappointing.

I played through CMU Adventures again today, making a defense/magic character. Certain spells (sex appeal and aging, in particular) become crazy powerful at higher stats, dealing 100+ damage per cast. I really need to work on the game more. In particular, the early game is still way too difficult. Healing items are rare and not terribly effective, and I ended up having to leave one person alive to use purely for healing when I got knocked down to low health. Once you pass the first boss, the game becomes a breeze though, so that part is probably fine.

I’ve been kinda getting back into KoL… at least, been “getting into” it enough to want to complete the remaining level 11 and 12 quests so I can fight the sorceress. At least things are incredibly easy now because I’ve been spending all my adventures (during my hiatus period) at the gym raising moxie and muscle (which are now about twice my myst, which is supposed to be my primary stat). Whee.

I should do more with my weekends.

Moving

We’re in the process of moving. I swear life hates me.

Friday was interesting. Went to Boriss’ place for fireworks, but ended up not being able to see anything… the three fireworks shows were either hidden behind some buildings, behind some trees, or behind the fog. Instead there were a bunch of people in the park lighting their own fireworks (some of which were actual large fireworks) from on top of a cooler… which freaked me out enough that I didn’t want to stick around and have fireworks shot at me. Overall, I had a nice time, but it was still kind of a disappointment. I should have done more with my day off of work.

Yesterday was crap. We moved some stuff in the morning to our new apartment, but didn’t get very much. Went to Nick’s birthday thing afterward and got slightly (at least only very slightly) burned. Decided to leave early to move some stuff to the new apartment…
Since I don’t have a bus pass anymore, I had to pay fare and get a transfer… however, the transfer I received was only good for 90 minutes instead of the usual 2 hours (or more). This was still enough time for me to get home and then do one round trip to the new place, so it was fine.
I must’ve gotten the worst muni driver ever. Traffic close to Fillmore was terrible (due to the Jazz Festival going on) and the bus was in a right-turn lane (to drop passengers off… munis can ignore turn lanes most of the time, apparently). However, instead of going around the traffic (like the 3 or 4 other buses that passed us) the driver decided to wait in the lane until we got to the stop. This took 15 minutes (to go a little over a block) with no opportunity to get off the bus and walk.
Ran home and grabbed stuff and ran to the stop just in time to miss 4 back-to-back-to-back-to-back munis. Awesome. Waited for another bus for about 20 minutes, then realized I wasn’t going to make it there and back in the remaining time on my transfer, so I gave up.

That evening Boriss was awesome and helped me move stuff. Managed to get basically everything over there (minus my computer desk and chair) in one trip. Left the new place feeling much better about the whole thing.

Afterward went to see Wall-E at the theatre in Japantown (amazing movie, by the way) and paid $13.50 for a ticket… or at least I should have. They somehow screwed up and charged my credit card 3 times, so I actually paid $40.50 for a ticket. Epic fail.

Today hasn’t been much better. Em was planning on having people over to our new place, and I was going to take the opportunity to use her bus pass to move more stuff over, but no one ended up coming (except Keith, who left about an hour after he got here… poor Keith) and so that was epic failure.

Tomorrow is work and moving the larger items (mostly Em’s stuff) by U-Haul. Knowing my luck with things something that should take maybe 2 hours will end up taking 5 and I’m going to miss a lot of work. Bleh.

PSO also hasn’t been going terribly well. One item that I was looking for (magic rock Moola, for anyone who plays) took over 70 runs of a quest (Towards the Future) to obtain a couple weeks ago. Today, one of my friends wanted to look for one and got it on the second run. Alas, that seems to always be the case with me and rares. Unfortunate.

I hope I can get more done at work tomorrow so I actually feel like I can do *something* right.

Moar PSO

Had an amazingly amazing run today.
Did a run of SS, saw Hildeblue x 2 and got Hildeblue Head x 2… but, even more surprising, also receieved Hildebear Head x 2.

Pix or it didn’t happen:

Also, my Fomar can now use his Striker of Chao. That (2x Shifta/Deband range) plus the Shifta Merge (2x Shifta range) plus the Fomar’s built-in bonus (2x Shifta/Deband range) makes Shifta do this:

Amazing :D
And that’s with only Shifta level 14. Can’t wait to see what happens once I get to Shifta 30.

The weapon is also generally cute. It’s an angry chao on a stick! :D

It makes cute chao noises when you attack with it too.

The universe must have a balance or something because this game session came right after I got extremely pissed off (at this, if anyone cares… ugh I hate fundies so much) and needed to vent some aggression against cute little Rag Rappies. It made me feel so much better, in particular because the first red box I ever saw in PSO BB was a Hildebear Head that the Ramar I was playing with took (I was playing with my Fomar back when he was level 25 or so) “for his other character.” I think that event put me off Forces for a while (hence why my Ramar got so far ahead in terms of levels). At least now I have friends I trust to play with (who have all been amazing and helped level my forces).

Hello World

I don’t write on here very often anymore, do I?

Well, I’m still alive. Life has been full of work and PSO and late night phone conversations, so life has been full of awesome.

Unfortunately, life has also had looking-for-apartment annoyances, but meh.

Today’s moment of awesome was discovering a quest on the PSO server where you’re guaranteed to see a Hildeblue (a rare enemy) every run. On our first run, we saw two (one was the actual rare enemy random occurrence and one was the scripted one) resulting in two Kaladgolgs. I did it again by myself and ended up with a Hildeblue Head (which will be a Hildeblue cane for my Fomar as soon as I complete the requisite quests).
First time ever seeing a Hildeblue in all my PSO (and I’ve played a *lot* of PSO) including all my DC and GC characters and I see three in the same day (although only one was actually the rare enemy). Now the only rare enemies I have left to see are a Poulilly Slime, Hildetorr (which I can see in the same manner as the Hildeblue if I can ever do Forest on ult), and a Dorphon Eclair (which apparently casts grants and so scares me a bit).

Fun.
