Catching up

Wheeee!

Took my camera to work today and got a bunch of beautiful pictures of downtown Pittsburgh.

Colored banners in front of a building, stylized.

Glass tower downtown, stylized.

Looking down 20 flights of stairs.

Meh. Might post others eventually.

God, what’s wrong with me?
I feel like a bad person for missing most of work today. Went like usual in the morning, but I just wasn’t able to concentrate and I wasn’t getting any work done. Not sure if it was due to the lack of sleep or just my general mood. Left really, really early to come home and sleep. Meh.

I feel like shit.

8 and friend playing ITG. Whee?

Movie foo

Played something like 5 rounds of DDR/ITG today. The guy I played with (Dan) was trying to add new songs to the ITG machine. It didn’t really work, unfortunately (can you imagine playing neoMAX on the machine? droooolllll), but whatever.

Mark and I decided to be (kinda) spontaneous yesterday and see a movie that neither of us had heard much/anything about… or at least I hadn’t heard anything about… so tonight we had dinner (Uncle Sams subs OMGZ) and saw “An Inconvenient Truth” at the Manor. For something with Al Gore, it was amazingly well done… I was very impressed by it. It could have easily been a complete disaster (a movie tackling the problem of global warming… heh), but was pulled off very well, with some (tasteful) anti-Bush jokes in it.

Um… I guess I didn’t really do much else today. Huzzah for 4 day weekends!
You also get multiple new pictures today because I was lazy and didn’t download pictures off my camera yesterday.

The OSC, June 30

It’s the magical reappearing lightpost… oh noes!!!
Meh, I should’ve gotten a better angle for the second one. Oh well.
Hopefully it’ll be completely gone next week (I will have pictures, obviously).

I also feel bad for not posting any photoshops in a while, but I really like this picture just the way it is, without any photoshopping. All I did was saturate a little to bring out the colors. The red pipes on the brick… mmmmm.

Ploot

Yeah so today was kinda a bad day…
It started out with me waking up from a series of dreams that left me feeling really lonely. Meh.
Hopped onto IM to see who was online… no one.
Went back to sleep.

Woke up again a couple hours later, checked IM. Everyone either was not online, was busy, or already had plans. Meh. Went off to the cluster in hopes of finding people. Sat there for a couple hours and no one showed up. Bored and lonely me.

Headed to the UC to play DDR. Discovered that the ITG machine was back and put some money in it.

And it didn’t work. Lost a couple dollars.

Headed back to my room to see if any other interns were up/interested in stuff. No one was, and there was still no one online, so I grabbed my camera and planned to head to squill.
Turned the camera on… hm… that’s odd… it says the memory card is empty.
*checks*
Memory card error… okay, let’s format then.
*format*
Memory card error… um…
*camera locks up*
Well shit.
*tries card on computer*
*computer locks up*
Well shit.

So yeah, my 1 GB memory card for my camera is dead. I need a new one… for now, I’m on the 256 MB one that really sucks (although I’m sure no one will be sad that I can now *only* take 130 pictures on the card instead of my usual 551).
*siiiigh*

So then I went to squill and read books at Barnes and Noble for a while. Got lonely, headed back, ran into Tyler and peoples. Sat in the cluster for a while.

So at this point, I’m incredibly bored and incredibly lonely because everyone’s busy and such. I head off to walk around campus (because the weather at the time wasn’t terrible)… and walk around for about 3 hours and feel even more lonely.

Meh. Eventually I went back to the cluster and arranged to meet Alisa and watch some DVDs with her and Tyler. Did so, and now I’m not lonely anymore. Amazing how spending time with people can immediately make me feel better.
Wheee.

Licence plate of a truck Vincent and I saw yesterday while driving. Wheee.

Life is good, even if I did have kinda a sucky day.

This is a new title

My desk area r teh photo-y! :-D
Actually, I’ve been meaning to replace most of the photos on the wall. They’re mostly from freshman and sophomore years of high school. My wall above my BED, on the other hand, is happy. I guess that’ll be tomorrow’s picture.

Um… yeah. So I head back to Pittsburgh in 2 days (this Saturday). Strangely, I’m not as excited about heading back as I was at the beginning of summer… probably because I actually am starting to feel comfortable here, and because I havn’t spent as much time with friends here as I would have liked. Meh.
Poo to all of you too, for not having time for me :-P

Only half kidding.

Worked a bit on constructing Student Wars decks today. Got a Programming deck, Athletic deck, and KGB deck done. I’ll build more so people have more options when it comes to introductory decks (since building a Student Wars deck, like any other TCG, is not trivial). So yeah, I’m putting all this work in, so people please play? I’ll sit down with you and teach you everything. Seriously.

For those of you who’ve asked, I’ll be working at the PSLC this summer (which basically means I’ll be on campus at the LTI). They produce and market tutoring software for kids. I’m working on the algebra tutor project. I’m going to be rewriting the backend of said system: the parser that takes the word problems the instructor enters and outputs the solution algebraic equations. The existing parser is written in lisp and is relatively accurate. Our goal is to improve the accuracy (so instructors don’t have to go in and fix the parser’s mistakes, which is extremely time consuming) and to rewrite it in Java. In doing so, we hope to gain an understanding of how children learn to parse word problems and get solutions. Should be lots of fun.

I just hope they didn’t misplace their faith in me… as in I hope I’m smart enough to do this. Meh.
Sounds like an incredibly difficult problem.

Gone to GameWorks for the past 2 days and played DDR. It’s really weird that they don’t have an ITG machine there, given how they’re supposedly incredibly state-of-the-art. At least I’m getting exercise.

What else, what else… there’s so much I want out of life, and I feel like such a bum sitting here in front of my computer all day not getting any of it. What have I contributed to the world? Nothing. Makes me feel insignificant. Meh.
Whatever. I don’t want to be big and important anyway. Famous people are scary. I just want to be content with who I am and what I have.
And I think, at this moment, I can be, so yay.
Life is good.

Dit is een Titel.

Well, Student Wars: Hijinks is done. I think the cutest card has to be Everett and Tyler. Whee. Was tempted to introduce a new trait “Kawaii” for them, but didn’t want to go through and do all the same stuff that I had to do with “Efficient”, so they fail.
Seriously though, tell me this isn’t a totally cute picture:

I will upload the zip file with Hijinks cards as soon as I get back to a fast connection at CMU. People please play?

Um… last night was lots of fun. Ended up going to Fiddlesticks instead, and they had unlimited arcade games and miniature golf for $10. They had a DDR machine and an ITG machine. I was in heaven. Well, at least at first. After 12 rounds (36 songs), my feet were pretty sad. Was fun though.

Tomorrow is graduation. Congrats to the class of ’06. Going to go with Amanda and foo. Yay for graduation funness.

So yeah. People should do stuff with me! I am bored out of my mind all day and I’ll only be here for another 1.5 weeks. Call me, dammit!

Edit: Re: the picture
