More game foo

It is 4 AM. I am, once again, still up. I fail at this whole sleep thing. Meh.

Today was really, really eventful. I am officially obsessed with rasterbation. Last semester was the Matus poster of doom. Today, I rasterbated two pictures of chrisamaphone and pfriedma cluster raving and hung them up in the cluster (pictures will come tomorrow). Thanks to Dan and Alan (Caum) for helping with cutting/assembly.

Then was tons of Starcraft. Played a 3/1 vs 3/1 game, and my team actually won… I’m definetly getting better. Was able to take out two people more or less by myself (Vincent helped with Mike’s base, but I think my guardians could have handled it).

Then was a bit of packing.

Then was cheesecake and other desserts at 7 (the place). Yummy food. Really, really good company. Lots of fun.

8 (Philip) and I then went to Scotland Yard to play ITG, but it turns out they closed at 10 and we got there just as they were closing, so he lost $5 in the machine. Bleh. Stupid CMU… no signs to warn people or anything. Stupid, stupid, stupid. So meh, we ended up going back to 7 and listening to music and stuff, and then went to Underground for foodage.

At Underground, I watched a game of Apples to Apples for a while, and then migrated to watching another game (whose name I forget right now). Was lots of fun, but it lasted over 3.5 hours, so meh.

Tomorrow I MUST study for 80180 with Car. Also might go to the Strip with 8 to get food for the dinner party Sunday night. Wheee. Oh yeah, I should also pack, probably.

Grades for two classes are out. 21301 (Combinatorics) and 62141 (B/W Photo I) are both As. Hope 213 is an A… Hope 312 is an A… if so, I can pretty much go into my two finals on Monday stress-free.

Today was an amazing day.
Happy happy dance wheee.
*dances*

Game foo

Hm… it is 4:30. I probably should have gone to bed 4 hours ago.
I’m hearing birds chirping outside. Perhaps that’s a sign that the sun will soon come up. Meh.

Today was tons of fun… slept, got up for lunch, slept some more, went to psychologist, went to Tims’, ate more, went back to Tims’. Whee.

Went to cluster to play Starcraft around 11:30. After a few quick games (including a massively horrible one of capture the flag, where people built insane amounts of cannons/colonies), I played Risk. When I left just now, I was winning… I controlled all of Asia, Australia, and Africa… I had eliminated two players, and Ivan and Julie controlled North America and South America, respectively. I really should sleep though.

Work is coming along on Student Wars: Hijinks. Hope people actually play it when I get it released… meh.

The weather today was horrible. Started raining before I got up, rained all day, just now stopped. The wind made it worse… had to hold my umbrella at strange angles to prevent wetness. Bleh.

Psychologist is weird… I mean, she’s nice and amazing, but I don’t really know what I was expecting out of it, and I’m not sure if I want to continue sessions or not. Oh well, I have until I get back in the summer to decide.

Something must be wrong with me… today, I had 2 full dinners and was still hungry. Ordered Chinese delivery (mmm shrimp and veggies), and then had a huge bowl of pasta (mmm cheese sauce). Then I stole a slice of mrwright’s pizza. Now I’m sitting here and I’m starving. Meh.

Bed. Tomorrow is studing for my last two finals, working on website, and working on Student Wars. Wootage.

Life is good, but I can’t help but feel like I’m missing something.
Oh well.

GAAH STORAGE

CMU Storage is the stupidest thing ever. Only open for two hours… only open at select times… not nearly enough room in some of the places… no easy way to get boxes to the storage places…

Yeah so, last night Keith and I put our boxes in storage. My arms *still* hurt. Blah. I wanted to store in Donner. I got boxes there. Then it filled up. Keith and I had to move the boxes from there up to Hamerschlag. Suckage.

Had the most amazing Japanese food last night… a little on the expensive side (the most I’ve spent on a meal in forever), but it was worth it. Mmmmm. Soooooo good.

I’m so behind on everything I have to do… which right now means studying for 18100, studying for 80180, working on the Center for School Outreach website, and relaxing. Meh. Psychologist at 4.

This song is great. Yay for FFVII: Advent Children soundtrack!

Final #3 done

The 312 final today actually wasn’t that bad. It was quite long, and the problems certainly made me think, but I’m fairly certain I came up with reasonable answers for all the problems, demonstrating that I actually knew the material. After all, that’s what really matters.

Got the grade for the final for 213. Did worse than I was expecting… 81%. Not terrible though, and I’ll still probably get my A, so I can’t really complain. Also got my final folio grade for photo. A on the folio, A- on the final assignment (self-defined project). I’m planning on scanning all the photos from each of my submitted assignments sometime this week, so you’ll probably see them soon. Probably going to start a new site section for those prints plus the various good photos I have.

Tonight was the Almost Midnight Breakfast. Lots of yummy food. Then was a cluster rave. OMG I love this camera.
While nice long exposures to get the blur of the raving were nice…

And ones with smaller apertures to let in less light and just get the glowsticks are better…

I much prefer this, which captures the scene as well as blurs the raving:

More rave pictars can be found at http://photos2.alanv.org. Please, leave comments on the pictures too. I love picture comments almost as much as I love journal comments. There’s a reason I went through the effort of writing a script for the photos instead of sticking them in a folder and turning on listing permissions… I like having comment capablity :-P

This song is bizarre. It’s a “Bring Me to Life” remix, done by a group called Pink Panther. Seems like something that would be good for raving though.

I’ve had way too much sugar lately. Between the free candy at CS finals and free cookies during finals week for CS majors and the free BBQs all around campus with burgers and tons of soda, I’ve probably had more sugar in the past 2 days than in the past 2 months combined. CS wants to kill its kids with sugar, I swear… XD

Oh yes, and I’m feeling better. Thank you to everyone who was worried about me and gave me huggles and generally made me feel loved. :D

Finals #1 and #2 done

213 was yesterday. At first, looking through it, my thought was “OMFG I’m going to fail.” Then I actually started working through the problems, and you know what, they were all doable. The exam itself was nothing like any of the practice exams I looked over (which is probably why it scared me at first glance), but everything on there was reasonable and doable if you understood the material. I feel good about it.

Then today was combinatorics exam. I went into it feeling generally doomed. Then we got the exam. I looked over it. First problem… oh, it’s just combinatorical proofs of two identities. Easy. Second problem… one of the nice probabilistic method proofs Easy. Third problem… a bunch of true/false with justifications… relatively easy. Last problem… two of these five proofs… oh, one is just inclusion/exclusion, and one is just marriage theorem… easy!
I finished in about 50 minutes, double checked all my work twice (took about another 30), and came out feeling quite confident in my answers.

So yeah, my first two finals went quite well.

Tonight is the 312 final. That should be scary. Hopefully I’ll do okay on it though. I feel like I know the material relatively well, I just may have some trouble applying it.

Whee. After tonight, I should be stress-free until next Monday. Not too worried about 18100 exam, and now that my ‘A’s in 213 and 21301 have been relatively assured, I don’t need to really worry about 80180 either.
